How to use the Celestial Blue Chawan

To make a bowl of matcha, sift your matcha powder into the Celestial Blue Chawan, add warm water, and whisk until a delicate light green foam forms on the surface.

  • Step 1

    Place your matcha sifter over the Celestial Blue Chawan. Add 2 grams, or about 1 teaspoon, of matcha powder into the sifter and gently press it through to create a fine, even layer of powder at the bottom of the bowl.

  • Step 2

    Heat fresh water to around 160 degrees Fahrenheit, or 70 degrees Celsius, for the best matcha flavor and texture.

  • Step 3

    Pour a small amount of warm water over the powder and stir until it forms a smooth, lump-free paste at the bottom of the Celestial Blue Chawan.

  • Step 4

    Add 100ml of water heated between 160 and 175 degrees Fahrenheit to the paste, then gently mix while scraping the sides of the Celestial Blue Chawan so everything blends evenly.

  • Step 5

    Whisk the matcha quickly using rapid zigzag movements from your wrist. With a little practice, you can create a soft layer of light green foam in seconds, giving your matcha a smoother texture and more balanced taste.

  • Step 6

    Enjoy your freshly prepared matcha straight from the Celestial Blue Chawan, or pour it into a glass if you prefer.
